Terms & Conditions

Website terms and lottery terms

Two parts: the terms for using motherwellcio.com, and the rules of the Her-Place Community Lottery.

Effective from 1 July 2026 · Last updated 1 July 2026

Part A — Website terms

A1. Acceptance and who we are

This website, motherwellcio.com, is operated by Her-Place Charitable Trust, a charitable incorporated organisation registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales under number 1173554 (formerly Motherwell Cheshire CIO). Our registered office is 54–56 Beech Drive, Wistaston, Crewe CW2 8RG, and you can contact us at support@motherwellcio.com. By using the site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.

A2. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The date at the top of this page shows when they were last changed. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated terms. Material changes to the lottery terms will also be emailed to subscribers before they take effect.

A3. Permitted use and restrictions

You may use the site for personal, non-commercial purposes: reading about our work, donating, entering the lottery and contacting us. You must not attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the site, interfere with its operation, scrape or harvest content or personal data, introduce malicious code, or use the site to promote any other gambling product.

A4. Intellectual property

The name Her-Place Charitable Trust, the Motherwell name, our logo, and the text and design of this site belong to us or our licensors. You may print or share pages for personal use, or to tell others about the charity, provided you do not alter them or imply our endorsement of anything else.

A5. Accuracy of information

We take care to keep the site accurate, but figures — including prize amounts, the proportion of proceeds reaching the cause, impact statistics and draw dates — may change from time to time and we will update this site when they do. The lottery terms in Part B, as published on the date of a draw, govern that draw.

A6. Third-party links

We link to other organisations, including safer-gambling charities and payment providers. We are not responsible for the content or privacy practices of other sites, and a link is not an endorsement.

A7. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The site is provided “as is”. We do not guarantee it will be available without interruption or free of errors. To the extent permitted by law we exclude liability for loss arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be excluded, and nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer.

A8. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute, without prejudice to any rights you have as a consumer to bring a claim where you live.

Part B — Lottery terms

These terms apply to the Her-Place Community Lottery (“the Lottery”). By buying an entry you agree to them. The current version is always published on this page and any change is announced to subscribers before it takes effect.

L1. Eligibility

  • You must be aged 18 or over on the day you enter.
  • You must be resident in Great Britain and enter from within Great Britain.
  • Trustees, staff and volunteers directly involved in running the Lottery, and members of their households, may not enter.
  • We may ask for proof of age, identity and address at any time and will always do so before a prize is paid.

L2. The promoter

The Lottery is promoted by Her-Place Charitable Trust, registered charity 1173554,54–56 Beech Drive, Wistaston, Crewe CW2 8RG. The member of the society designated as responsible for the promotion is Kate Blakemore, Founder & Chief Executive. The Lottery is run as a small society lottery registered with Cheshire East Council under the Gambling Act 2005 (registration SL0417, registered 14 January 2026). No External Lottery Manager is used.

L3. Entries

  • Each entry costs £1.
  • An entry is 5 numbers chosen from 1 to 35, either selected by you or allocated at random as a “lucky dip”.
  • Entries are bought online through this site. An entry is valid only once payment has cleared and you have received a confirmation email showing your numbers, the ticket price, the promoter, the responsible person and the draw date.
  • Entries must be received by 11.59pm on Tuesday to be included in that week’s draw. Later entries are placed in the following draw.
  • You may hold no more than 10 entries per draw. We may set a lower limit at your request under our responsible gambling policy.

L4. Subscriptions

A weekly or monthly subscription enters the same numbers in every draw for the period, and renews automatically. Payment is collected in advance of each period by our payment provider. You can cancel at any time, free of charge, by emailing support@motherwellcio.com or calling 01606 557666; a cancellation received before the Wednesday cut-off takes effect before the next draw, and draws already paid for still stand. If a payment fails we will try again once and email you; entries are not made for any draw that has not been paid for.

L5. The draw

Draws take place every Wednesday at 12 noon. Five numbers are drawn at random by an independently tested random number generator, supervised by the responsible person and one other member of staff, and the result is minuted. Results are published on the winners page the same day and sent to subscribers who have opted in to results emails. If a draw cannot take place at the scheduled time it will be held as soon as reasonably practicable and entrants told.

L6. Prizes

  • First prizeMatch all 5 numbers: £1,000 (example amount); odds 1 in 324,632 per entry.
  • Second prizeMatch 4 numbers: £100 (example amount); odds 1 in 2,164 per entry.
  • Third prizeMatch 3 numbers: £10 (example amount); odds 1 in 75 per entry.
  • Where more than one entry wins the same tier, the prize for that tier is paid to each winning entry, subject to the prize caps that apply to a small society lottery.
  • Winners are notified by email within three working days. Prizes are paid by bank transfer after age and identity verification. Claims must be made within 90 days of the draw; unclaimed prizes are applied to the charity’s work.
  • Prizes are not transferable and there is no cash alternative to a cash prize.

L7. Void entries

An entry is void, and any prize withheld, if it was made by someone under 18 or otherwise ineligible; if payment failed or was reversed; if it duplicates an entry beyond the entry limit; if it was received after the cut-off for the draw it claims; or if it was obtained by fraud. Stakes for void entries are refunded except where the entry was fraudulent.

L8. Self-exclusion

You may self-exclude from the Lottery at any time for six months, one year or five years by contacting us. During self-exclusion we will refuse entries, cancel any subscription and stop lottery marketing. Any entry accepted in error during a self-exclusion period is void and the stake refunded. See our responsible gambling page for the full process.

L9. Where the money goes

From every £1 entry, at least 55p goes to the charitable work of Her-Place Charitable Trust, around 30p to the prize fund and 15p to running costs. By law at least 20% of the proceeds of a society lottery must be applied to the purposes of the society; our allocation will never fall below this.

L10. Suspension or cancellation of the Lottery

We may suspend or end the Lottery, or change these terms, where the law, our registration or the charity’s trustees require it. If a draw is cancelled, entries for that draw are refunded or, at your choice, rolled into the next draw. Subscribers will be told by email at least 14 days before the Lottery ends.

L11. Complaints and disputes

Complaints about the Lottery should be sent to support@motherwellcio.com or to the registered office. We acknowledge within 5 working days and respond fully within 20 working days. If you remain unhappy you may raise the matter with the licensing authority the Lottery is registered with or with the Gambling Commission. As a small society lottery we are not required to use an alternative dispute resolution provider, but we will co-operate fully with either body. Fundraising complaints may be escalated to the Fundraising Regulator.

L12. Data protection

We process entrants’ personal data — including age confirmation, verification records and self-exclusion records — as described in our privacy policy. Buying an entry is not consent to marketing.
